We are happy to invite you to our first excursion in 2022! Join this one-of-a-kind exclusive excursion to visit three Dutch space locations in one day! Here is what to expect (programme can be subject to adaptations):
8:00 am Bus Pickup at Utrecht Centraal
10:00 am Visit to the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) Marknesse
NLR is active in multiple disciplines, focusing on developing new and cost effective technologies for aviation and space. At its location in Marknesse, you will get an introduction to NLR and its activities in Space and visit some of its test facilities. Moreover, for those space professionals among you interested in networking, you will learn how to do business with NLR, and which career opportunities it offers.
12:00 pm Lunch on the road
13:30 pm Tour through Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker
Suspended from the ceiling of the living room of a beautiful canal house in Franeker, is the oldest still working planetarium in the world. This accurately moving model of the solar system was built between 1774 and 1781 by the Frisian wool comber, Eise Eisinga.
15:00 pm Bus transfer
16:30 pm Tour through the Radio Observatory Dwingeloo
The Dwingeloo Radio Telescope, commissioned in 1956, is one of the oldest radio telescopes in the world. Back then it was the first and largest rotatable radio telescope for professional astronomy. Today it is the world’s largest radio telescope for amateurs and we will get an exclusive tour!
18:00 Bus transfer back to Utrecht Centraal
20:00 End of excursion!
