20dec19:00space-event-2022A special space evening is being prepared for all interested members of (manned) space travel,Plantage Kerklaan 38-40 1018 CZ Amsterdam

The theme of the evening is the development of the traditional institutional human spaceflight to the era of commercial/institutional human spaceflight.

The evening will consist of presentations followed by a panel discussion. Subject to the recording of the final program, the following people will tell their story:

  • Eytan Stibbe: Israeli astronaut about his flight with AX-1 (AXIOM) to the ISS in April 2022
  • Tej Bhatia: AXIOM management about the future plans of AXIOM in the ISS and post ISS era
  • Joost van Tooren: Arianegroup Project Manager on the ambitious European manned space project SUSIE •
  • Bernando Patti: ESA Human and Robotic Exploration Directorate on the plans approved by the Ministerial Council of ESA

André Kuipers will also participate in the panel discussion. Given that Eytan Stibbe also has Dutch nationality, it is very very special that they are present together. Eytan’s flight got the name “Rakai” the Hebrew word for “Heaven”. The logo of the Rakia – 1 mission also has a reference to the first Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon who died tragically during the return of the Columbia Space Shuttle. Eytan tells about this in a special impressive way during his presentation.

During the evening, the Planetarium’s most recent film will also be shown his “Alien Worlds” Buitenaardse Werelden – YouTube
