Op 24 November organiseert de NVR een lezingenavond over GAIA.
De avond wordt gehouden in de Sitterzaal van het Oortgebouw Leiden. De avond duurt van 18:45 – 21:45
Gaia is a satellite that eventually will determine the positions, distances and motions of a billion objects, mostly stars from our Milky Way. A first data release took place on 14 September 2016 and already many papers have appeared based on this release. This was announced with this nice poster:
Time for us, members of the NVR, to familiarize ourselves again with this satellite and its monumental impact on astronomy.
